Dalia turned 2

Our sweet, sweet baby Dalia turned 2 on April 7.  It's so hard to believe she is already 2.  The second child's life goes by so much faster than the first.  We have had so much fun watching her grow and learn.  She is so much fun and while she is so much like her sister, she is also very different.  She is a happy, sweet, energetic, curious and smart toddler.  She loves her family, especially her daddy.  She is definitely a daddy's girl.  She gets so excited to see him everyday when he comes home from work and he is the first person she asks for in the morning.  Sometimes she is upset when mommy gets her out of bed because it's not daddy.  She is a great eater and will almost eat anything.  Some of her favorite foods right now are broccoli (trees), yogurt, macaroni and cheese, and spaghetti.  She also really likes chocolate and popsicles.  Her favorite movies and shows are all the Toy Story movies, which she calls "Chicken Man," Winnie the Pooh and Caillou.  She asks to watch all of them everyday.  She loves any chance to go outside and loves looking for flowers, which she calls "fy-o's."  She loves going to the beach and loves to throw sand in the air and yell, "surprise!"  She has a toy broom and every time she picks it up she starts singing a tune she made up while pretending to sweep.  It's the cutest thing you'll ever see.  She loves taking baths.  She always pretends this cup we have in the tub is a jar of honey and fills it with water and "eats" it just like Pooh bear.  For a while she was adding an "uh" sound to the end of her words.  She would say "doggy-uh," "mommy-uh," "I love you-uh," etc.  We think it's because we call her Dally a lot and then she would hear us say her full name and think you're supposed to add the "uh" sound.  It was silly.  When she wants to be picked up or held she says, "peet you" and we have no idea how she came up with that one.  Whenever we do something for her or give her something she always says thank you, but then immediately says you're welcome after that.  It's so funny.  She's much too polite.  She secretly knows how to count.  I catch her doing it occasionally, but won't do it when prompted.  She's also learning the alphabet, slowly, but surely.  She doesn't like to sit down and learn things as much as Mina did.  She loves bums and thinks they're funny.  She loves to read books.  She has a few favorites.  A couple are One Moose, Twenty Mice and The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  She'll read them over and over and over again.  She likes to draw and color and is very good at drawing circles.  She's always asking me to draw things for her to color.  Everything from Buzz Lightyear to circles.  Luckily, my drawings are good enough for her even if they don't resemble to closely the things she wants.  She wakes up so happy in the mornings.  She tells herself jokes and laughs hysterically at herself.  It's so fun to listen to her in the mornings.  She's almost always happy.  When she's not happy, that's when you know she needs some sleep.  We love Dalia so much and she is such a blessing to our family.

I took her out to look for flowers on her birthday morning.  She was so excited to go and it was so fun watching her.  When she was done she simply said, "I want to go."  As we left the little field of flowers she waved and said, "bye fy-o's."
