Fun moments in January

We had a lot of fun moments in January.  Here are just some random and goofy moments.
Dalia takes after Mina and likes to play with these little figurines.  She'll normally line them all up facing the same way.  This day they were sitting on the couch with her watching a show.  She makes me laugh and I love how much she takes after Mina.  Dalia also loves stuffed animals.

I started making this pretend felt cake for Mina.  She is obsessed with making pretend birthday cakes out of her toys and puzzle pieces.  I was getting tired of having to pick up all the little toys after her and thought this would be a good solution.  It wasn't.  She still prefers all the little toys and puzzle pieces.

I made these skirts for the girls for a late Christmas present.  I also made some for Hazel and Jasmine.  It's a fun corduroy fabric that I got for a steal.  I love the colors.

One day I told Mina to go upstairs and get dressed.  After a while upstairs, she finally came down and this was her ensemble.  I think my favorite part about the outfit is her underwear sticking out of the top of her pants.

Mina wanted to make brownies one day and as I was pouring the batter into the pan she told me, "don't put all of that in there because I need to eat some of it."  Haha.  I left the room for a bit and when I came back I found her entire head in the bowl.

Mina is obsessed with hide and seek.  She still doesn't quite understand how it all works, but she's getting there.  This is probably one of my favorite of her hiding spots so far.

I love when Dru gets on the ground and really plays with the girls.  They love him so much.

Mina's art and writing skills continue to improve.  I was very impressed by this cat she drew and the fact that she spelled out cat with it.

And Mina finally had her first dentist appointment.  I brought her to my last appointment so she could get an idea of what to except.  She was still nervous about it, but the hygenest was wonderful and made her feel so comfortable.  She ended up really enjoying it and she has wonderful teeth.  She didn't like the fluoride treatment, but who does?

Emus

At the end of January our friends, the Baileys, called to let us know some of the emu chicks had hatched.  the only other time the girls and I had been to their house it was dark so we hadn't even seen the grown emus yet.  The girls were very excited to go see them.  Mina also has a fondness for Sam and she loves going just to see "Sammy."  We got there and Sam took us into their pen.  The emu with the chicks stayed far from us, but we were able to get pretty close to the others.  Mina enjoyed feeding them pieces of grass.  They are very interesting creatures and it was a lot of fun being near them.  There was another emu still laying on some eggs that hadn't hatched yet.  Sam took us up pretty close to him and even let Mina pet him.  I squatted to take some pictures, but when the emu started getting up I started walking away and that's when he decided to kick me.  Luckily, he didn't get me right on, but ended up skimming down the side of my leg.  It left a nice long bruise all the way down my leg from my upper thigh to my mid calf.  And after we left the pen Sam proceeded to tell me that he could have easily broken my leg and that out of the 20 plus years they've had the emus, they have never attacked anyone.  Haha.  I don't know why I was so special.

Our New Home

I tried to get the house unpacked and put together as quickly as possible since we're not going to be here, but for 10 months.  I did pretty well.  We absolutely love this house.  It is super nice and has a wonderful layout.  We have so much room for everything and I know we're going to miss it so much with we leave.

Yeah, that's the ocean in the background.
