Marina's Visit

Aunt Marina came to visit again.  We were so excited to have her come.  The girls and I picked her up from the airport and straightaway took her to Rosine's for some delicious breakfast.  When we got home, Marina got out some presents sent from Grandma Jorgensen.  She sent Mina some pretty dresses and a pool for the girls' barbies.  They had lots of fun playing with their barbies in the pool and playing dress up.

The weather was super nice while she was here so we spent a couple of days at the beach.  One day when we went, we got sandwiches from Campagnos and ate lunch on the beach.  We all ended up getting a little sun burnt that day, too.  I got it the worst, though.  Apparently you're more sensitive to the sun when you're pregnant.  Lesson learned.  We all had fun burying Dru in the sand and turning him into a mermaid.  The girls like to be buried, too.  Marina had a lot of fun one of the days playing in the frigid waves and was even taken down by one that almost made her lose her expensive sunglasses.  Dalia, at one point, just laid herself in the sand and told us she was going to take a nap.  I put a towel over her and she probably would have taken a nap if I hadn't have offered her some strawberries.  She ate all the strawberries I had packed.  Mina even braved up and got in the water some.

We went to the farmer's market in downtown Monterey and bought some delicious strawberries.  There's always a guy out there who owns a bunch of exotic birds and lets people hold them and take pictures with them.  He is looking for donations.  We never have any spare cash to give him, but this time I had given Mina a dollar before we got out of the car and as soon as she saw the bird man she dug that dollar out of her pocket and ran to give it to him.  She loves holding the birds.  Dalia even got to hold one this time.  She was a little timid, but I know she loved it.  She loves animals.  We made crepes with the strawberries and some nutella the next day and enjoyed them immensely.

Aunt Marina bought a big tub of cheese balls for the girls... or maybe for me... and her.  Mina was out somewhere with Dru so we let Dalia go to town on some of the cheesy goodness.  She makes such a mess out of the little things, but she's just so cute.

Dru and Marina stayed up late watching a movie one night and Marina blinded Dru by taken many selfies on her phone of the two of them.

Mina was obsessed with aunt Marina's phone and taking pictures with it.  She was constantly asking to either take pictures with it or to have Aunt Marina take pictures of her.

We went to Rosine's one night for dinner and Mina really, really wanted a piece of sprinkle cake.  We didn't get her one and she was so sad that Aunt Marina took her back and let her get one.  She smiled so big on her way back to the car.  I think she is loved.  The girls enjoyed it.

Every time I put makeup on, the girls ask for a "tiger face."  They think a little eye liner on their faces is just the coolest thing ever.

Mina was being a photographer.

We had such a great time with Marina here.  As always, the time went by way too fast.  Thanks for coming to see us!

Pulling Weeds

I guess we didn't do much in August.  I have been sick a lot, though.  I had a painful sinus infection for a few days and then developed a really annoying cough.  Mina's got it, too.  In fact, she gave it to me.  We discovered a mold problem in our garage and ended up having to throw out a lot of baby stuff, including 2 strollers, a bumbo, 2 high chair/booster seats, a baby jumper and a few other things.  We discovered the the ground in the garage is always wet, no matter what.  We don't know what is causing the moisture, but have had a couple people come look at it.  No answers, but more people are coming to look.  We were able to get some compensation for the losses, though, so that's good.  We don't park in the garage anymore.  I don't feel like walking through mold spores and we have black widows in there, so I'm just steering clear as much as possible.
The day Dru was going through the garage to set all the moldy stuff aside, the girls and I decided to pull all the massive weeds in the back yard.  It was long overdue.  My back started aching after a while, but the girls absolutely had the best time pulling weeds.  It was really cute.  When I first started pulling them, I heard a little voice from somewhere in the yard say, "come find me."  And I looked over to see Dalia's cute little self hiding in a big patch of the weeks.  Mina eventually joined her and it was just fun listening to them giggle together.  Dru finished up in the garage and came to help us finish the weeds and the back yard looked much better.
