Celebrating the new year

On New Year's Eve we had the Tillotsons over again.  I made some little snacks and we had some yummy sparkling cider to drink all night.  The kids went to bed at their normal time and we stayed up late playing games, including the Nintendo 64 version of Mario Kart and Goldeneye.  We watched the famous ball drop on a television channel and rang in the New Year.
On New Year's Day we decided to have a picnic at one of our favorite beach spots near by.  There's a big sand dune to climb, but the view at the top is breathtaking.  It was one of Dru's and my favorite places when we last lived here.  It was so fun to go back and to take the girls.  It was a bit windy and cold so we dressed warmly.  The tide was a bit high, too, so we stayed at the top of the dune.  There was plenty of sand to play in and plenty of places to explore.  So we ate our lunch and snacks and played for a while.  When Dalia started getting too cold we headed home.  It was a wonderful way to ring in the new year.
